You Need a Rest, So Take It

Have you ever felt bone tired? So deeply tired in your core that no amount of sleep will give you any relief? Are you emotionally exhausted from daily interactions with people? Are you constantly working or feeling the need to be productive?

A "Yes" to any of these questions, indicates one thing and one thing only. You need a rest.

No kidding, you think. Good, we are in agreement. But what does rest mean? Going to bed and pulling the covers over your head for a week? Taking up a new hobby for a change of pace?

Planning or undertaking a new project so that you'll be more productive in that area and you can get away from the other areas that you are struggling with.

There are different kinds of rest. Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. With all the demands we place on ourselves, it is sometimes difficult for us to take the rest we need. The funny thing is, we can be a lot more productive once we have had our rest.

You might think that you are not doing anything when you are resting. But, you are. You are freeing yourself from the long list of "shoulds" that we often subject ourselves to. Our brains cannot sustain constant productivity. Many of the great thinkers in history only worked a few hours a day and spent the rest of their time in other pursuits.

Resting is not "doing nothing". It's an essential part of life and helps us do our best work when we are doing that work.

So, how do we rest? Especially without feeling that we are wasting our time. Keeping in mind the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual components of our entire being that all need to be both rested and worked, rest could be any or all of these options: Take time away, give yourself permission to not be helpful, do something that seems to be unproductive, spend time alone, spend time in your home by yourself, spend time in nature, walk, meditate, sing, dance, find a fun hobby, take classes with your new puppy, etc. There's a pretty good chance that you will be able to come up with more ideas yourself that suit you.

On the upside, you will feel better, be more productive when you are working, and have a more balanced day.

On the downside, people in your life might not like the new you. You might get reactions that run the gamut of "why don't you want to be with me 24/7?", or "what's wrong?", "why aren't you doing anything?" and so on.

You are the divine creator of your own life and custodian of your health. You really need to take care of you. You can lead by example and show your loved ones how they can take their rest and be more productive when they are working, too.

Sure, rest can mean taking a nap during the day. It can also be so much more. Find your way to your ideal rest and do it every day.

Let me help you develop your own divine life purpose so that you can be a better creator of your own existence. Be happier, healthier, more productive, and more you.
