In ancient Rome, strawberries were associated with the goddess of love, sex, and fertility - Venus, because the berry's heart shape and red colour, and visible seeds. It was thought that eating strawberries would bring you love and fertility! It has also been said that in France, they used to eat strawberry soup to make their honeymoons more special. It is for these reasons that strawberries are considered an aphrodisiac today!

Many believe that if you break a double strawberry in two and share it with your crush, the two of you will fall in love! Give it a try and see if it works.

You've probably seen or enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries on Valentine's day in the past. Chocolate is also considered a widely popular aphrodisiac because eating releases feel-good hormones, which helps you feel good around the one you love. Some even argue that two chemicals found in chocolate - tryptophan (which releases serotonin), and phenylethylamine (which is a stimulant) help with arousal and falling in love.

No matter if science can prove the effectiveness of strawberries and chocolate as an aphrodisiac, both foods are sweet, delicious, and perfect for le jour de l’amour.
